Our story
Three generations of timber, since 1938
Laxmi Lumber Industries grew from a single saw in 1938 into one of India's most established timber houses — the pioneers who introduced Burma teak and African teak to the Indian market.
What began in 1938 as the sawing of wood became, over three generations, a vertically-integrated timber group — importing, milling, manufacturing and finishing under one name.
In 1985 we imported timber for the first time and, with Sh. Bhai Lal Bhai (B.B.) Patel, became the pioneers of Burma teak in India. In 1989, working with Bharti Enterprises, we introduced African teak to the Indian market for the first time.
Today the group spans timber, plywood (Mahalaxmi Woodcraft), laminates (Nobel Laminate), furniture, interiors and even agriculture — but our purpose is unchanged: to supply the finest wood, with the knowledge to use it well.
